Police say two people are dead and two boys are in critical condition from a Monday shooting at a middle school in northern Nevada, The Associated Press reported.

The incident at Sparks Middle School, located just outside of Reno, was reported about 7:16 a.m.

The identities of the shooter and victims weren’t immediately known, AP said.

The Reno-Gazette Journal reported that the shooter is dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Sparks Police Department Commander Rocky Triplett said they will release more details as the facts become clear.

Gov. Brian Sandoval, in a prepared statement, said: “I was deeply saddened to learn of the horrific shooting at Sparks Middle School this morning. My administration is receiving regular updates and the Nevada Highway Patrol is assisting at the scene.”

Mr. Sandoval extended his thoughts and prayers to those affected, AP reported.
