D.C. police are looking for four suspects who held eight people inside a Southeast home overnight and sexually assaulted one of the victims.

The timeline of events was not immediately clear, but four intruders gained access to a home in the 4200 block of Southern Avenue Southeast overnight and forced five occupants of the home into the basement, Metropolitan Police Department spokesman Officer Anthony Clay said.

While the five people were being held against their will, three other people entered the home and discovered the home invasion. One of those people was threatened, and the intruders demanded money. At that point, the person was sexually assaulted.

Two other occupants of the home were also physically assaulted.

Police could not provide further details about the incident but were searching for the four suspects.
