ANALYSIS/OPINION:

J. Christian Adams has rightly identified Obamacare as evil (“Defunding the evil that is Obamacare,” Commentary, Sept. 2). President Reagan knew that the best way to undermine a democratic society was through its health care system. In 1961, he said, “One of the traditional methods of imposing socialism on a people has been by way of medicine.”

I don’t blame President Obama. The real villains are our representatives. At this defining moment in history for which our representatives were carefully designed as a safeguard against dictatorship, the House of Representatives is out to lunch. Such a group without courage, patriotism or morality fulfills no unselfish purpose — and the blame will rest squarely on their shoulders, nowhere else. The checks-and-balances system is on trial for its life.

The moral and religious failings of Obamacare are patently obvious; hopefully, reminding us that our Constitution, according to Founding Father John Adams, is suitable only for a moral and religious people.

The House of Representatives must do what is right and defund Obamacare, drop their political-fallout calculations and let the chips fall where they may. If they don’t, it’s up to the Tea Party — again.
