CAPE MAY COURT HOUSE, N.J. (AP) - Authorities have accused the chairman of the Cumberland County Republican Party of swindling an elderly patient at his rehabilitation center of more than $149,000.

Fifty-one-year-old Robert Greco Jr. of Vineland is charged with theft by failure to make required disposition.

Prosecutors allege the owner and administrator of the East Creek Manor Rehabilitation Center in Cape May County admitted an elderly patient and convinced the patient to give him control of the patient’s financial portfolio.

Authorities say Greco used the money to pay for expenses.

Greco could face up to 10 years in prison if convicted.

It’s not known whether he has hired a lawyer.
