PITTSTON, Pa. (AP) - Officials say three students suffered minor injuries when their van skidded out of control on an ice-covered road in northeastern Pennsylvania.

WNEP-TV (https://bit.ly/1glXQzi) said it happened around 7:45 a.m. Tuesday on Route 92 in Exeter Township, Luzerne County.

The van was carrying five students headed to Montgomery Avenue Elementary School, in the Wyoming Area school district.

Wyoming Area district superintendent Ray Bernardi said the van skidded on ice and the driver lost control. The van ran off the road and hit two vehicles in a parking area.

The children were checked out at a hospital and released.
