SCHENECTADY, N.Y. (AP) - A man has pleaded guilty to killing an 82-year-old former nun during a burglary at her upstate New York apartment in December 2012.

The Daily Gazette of Schenectady reports (https://bit.ly/1hYqpnO ) that 38-year-old Michael Briggs pleaded guilty Monday in Schenectady County Court to second-degree murder and attempted burglary. He faces a total sentence of 30 years to life in state prison at his June sentencing.

Prosecutors say Briggs strangled Mary Greco in her apartment in late December 2012. Her body was found on New Year’s Day, 2013. Officials say he had shoveled show for her around the time she was killed.

Officials say Briggs‘ DNA and fingerprints were found inside the victim’s apartment.

Prosecutors say at the time of the killing, Briggs had fled from parole in a Long Island assault case.
