SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) - A man accused of murdering another man in Sioux Falls has pleaded guilty to a reduced charge of manslaughter.

The Argus Leader reports (https://argusne.ws/1kA3Kp3 ) that 23-year-old Robert Bass III took a plea deal with prosecutors that will cap his prison term at 50 years if a judge agrees.

Bass was accused of beating to death 50-year-old Crescencio Conde-Vargas at Vargas’ home after the two had been drinking on Jan. 5, 2013. Authorities say Bass hit Conde-Vargas in the head twice with a baseball bat.

Bass is to be sentenced July 17.
