ASHEBORO, N.C. (AP) - The North Carolina Zoo is announcing its newest addition.

A statement from the zoo said a baboon was born on April 9. Both mother and baby are on exhibit and are said to be doing well. The gender of the baby baboon is unknown at this time.

The N.C. Zoo is said to be home to the largest troop of hamadryas baboons in the country. There are 20 hamadryas baboons at the zoo.

Other recent additions at the zoo include an otter pup, three cougar kittens and a sitatunga.
