PITTSFIELD, Mass. (AP) - A Pittsfield woman has been acquitted of charges that she helped her sister beat up a pregnant woman.

The Berkshire Eagle (https://bit.ly/R8GxNL) reports that Ashley Clark was found not guilty Thursday of felony aggravated assault and battery and vandalizing property after a two-day trial and 45 minutes of jury deliberations.

Prosecutors alleged that the 25-year-old Clark and her sister assaulted the victim in December 2011, specifically focusing blows on her stomach.

Authorities say Clark’s sister was angry because the victim said she was pregnant by the sister’s boyfriend.

Clark’s lawyer said his client did not assault the victim, but instead “did the right thing,” and tried to break up the fight.
