HELENA, Mont. (AP) - The owners of a horse boarding operation southeast of Helena have each been charged with 35 counts of animal cruelty.

Broadwater County Attorney Karla Mae Bosse released information Friday in connection with the seizure last month of 28 horses, five goats and a donkey from Rocky Acres Horse Rescue in Townsend.

Dalene Ann Rindal and Thomas William Jessberger are scheduled to appear in District Court next Friday.

The Independent Record reports (https://bit.ly/1iFDaUo ) that both are charged with one misdemeanor count of cruelty to animals and 34 counts of felony cruelty to animals.

According to an affidavit, officials found moldy hay, insufficient shelter for the animals housed at the property and underweight horses.
