Maui bicycle rider dies in collision with vehicle

HONOLULU (AP) - Police say a bicycle rider is dead after he was hit by a pickup truck in Kihei.

Maui police say the collision occurred shortly after 1 p.m. Saturday north of Kanani Road.

They say the 61-year-old man was on a bicycle heading north on Piilani Highway when a pickup driven by a 28-year-old man drifted in the bike lane and hit him.

The Honolulu Star-Advertiser (https://bit.ly/1nkeXr7 ) reports that the man was transported to Maui Memorial Medical Center, where he died.
