NEW YORK (AP) - Mourners gathered at a public wake for fallen New York Police Department Officer Dennis Guerra.

Fellow police officers, firefighters and others attended the wake Sunday in Ozone Park, Queens.

Officer Guerra and his partner were overcome by carbon monoxide and smoke while responding to a fire in Brooklyn.

Guerra died Wednesday. His partner remains in critical but stable condition.

A 16-year-old boy has been indicted on a murder charge in his death. Police say he lit a mattress on fire in the Coney Island apartment building last weekend because of boredom.

Guerra’s funeral is scheduled for Monday.
