VAN HORNE, Iowa (AP) - Authorities say two Iowa City residents have died after their car collided with an agricultural sprayer in east-central Iowa.

The Iowa State Patrol says the accident occurred just before 7 p.m. Friday on the west side of Van Horne in Benton County. The patrol says the westbound car crossed the center line and struck the eastbound sprayer.

The patrol identified the two people killed in the car as 42-year-old Paul Hofmeyer and 44-year-old Stacy Thompson, his passenger.

The sprayer driver was identified as 42-year-old Jeffrey Selk of Keystone. He was taken to a Cedar Rapids hospital and is expected to survive his injuries.
