SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) - A five-alarm fire has gutted a former television news studio near downtown San Jose where homeless people occasionally spend the night.

Fire Capt. Reggie Williams said Sunday’s fire caused the roof and walls of the former KNTV-11 building to collapse.

He told the San Jose Mercury News (https://bit.ly/1iLFEBX) that two apparently homeless people got out of the building safely when firefighters arrived.

It took 100 firefighters about two hours to extinguish the blaze.

Williams said two firefighters suffered minor injuries and were treated and released.
