PIERRE, S.D. (AP) - A state representative has withdrawn a court challenge over the validity of signatures submitted by Republican U.S. Senate candidate Dr. Annette Bosworth.

The Pierre Capital Journal reported (https://bit.ly/1kYeoSf ) that Republican Rep. Steve Hickey of Sioux Falls filed an affidavit asking the Hughes County Court to require Secretary of State Jason Gant to not accept the petitions.

But Hickey withdrew the affidavit Monday after finding out it would not be addressed until after ballots were printed.

Hickey told The Associated Press that once the timeframe guaranteed Bosworth’s name would be on the ballot, the challenge became a moot point.

Political blogger Cory Heidelberger recently filed an affidavit with Gant’s office questioning some of Bosworth’s signatures. Gant ruled the challenge unsuccessful, but Heidelberger said Gant failed to address all the concerns.
