NORMAN, Okla. (AP) - The University of Oklahoma says sophomore guard Je’lon Hornbeak is transferring from the men’s basketball team.

Coach Lon Kruger said Tuesday that it’s always disappointing when a player leaves a program, but that everyone wishes Hornbeak the very best.

Hornbeak is from Arlington, Texas, and spent two season at OU where he played 61 games and averaged 5.4 points, 2.3 rebounds and 2.1 assists.

Hornbeak said in a news release that he met with Kruger and the coach was understanding of his desire for a fresh start and that he’ll look back at his time at OU fondly.

Kruger says the team plans to add a player during the late signing period that starts Wednesday.
