UNIVERSAL CITY, Texas (AP) - Officials say a 6-year-old student has died after being struck by a school bus in Central Texas.

Officials with the Judson Independent School District say the student was struck early Tuesday morning in northeast Bexar County.

Universal City police say the girl was with a male relative when she was struck. Police say she was then taken back to her apartment where she later died.

Authorities said the victim was a student at Coronado Village Elementary School. She was hit about half a mile away from the campus.

Investigators are expected to review the bus’ surveillance cameras figure out exactly what happened.

Police say no charges are expected against the bus driver, who was questioned and released by police.

The district is located just northeast of San Antonio.
