WORCESTER, Mass. (AP) - Worcester police are investigating three random attacks in the city this month they fear may be part of what’s commonly called the “knockout” game.

The attacks landed two 56-year-old men in the hospital while a 23-year-old victim was unhurt. All three were walking alone when assaulted.

In what’s become a nationwide problem, the perpetrator approaches an unsuspecting stranger and without warning punches the victim in the head or face in attempt to knock out the person.

Chief Gary Gemme (jem) calls the attacks “cowardly.”

He tells The Telegram & Gazette (https://bit.ly/1hQHqzF ) it’s still unclear if the three attacks are related.

There have been no arrests.
