YUMA, Ariz. (AP) - Authorities have arrested a man who allegedly helped his father escape arrest after a fatal shooting in Yuma.

Yuma police say 18-year-old Modesto Cortes is being held on suspicion of hindering prosecution.

His sister, 21-year-old Daisy Cortez, was arrested earlier on the same charge for allegedly driving her father to Mexico after he reportedly fatally shot someone outside a Yuma restaurant.

Police say 44-year-old Modesto Cortes-Serrillo got into a fight with 43-year-old Santiago Olivo-Diaz inside the Lin’s Grand Buffet shortly before 7 p.m. Sunday.

Witnesses say Olivo-Diaz ran outside and Cortes-Serrillo allegedly shot him multiple times.

Cortes-Serrillo fled the scene in a car and police believe he’s now in Mexico.

Police say Modesto Cortes is accused of assisting his father with evading arrest and withholding information about his dad’s whereabouts.
