ATLANTA (AP) - State Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner Ralph Hudgens says nearly 150,000 Georgians will be insured through policies they bought through the federal health care marketplace.

Hudgens says his office consulted with Alliant, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Humana, Kaiser and Peach State to determine how many people will be covered. Hudgens says Insurers received more than 221,600 applications, and premiums have been received for policies covering 149,465 people.

Hudgens says many Georgians finished their applications on time but have yet to pay for their coverage.

Hudgens says more than 104,200 people will be insured by policies that will be federally subsidized.
