McGEHEE, Ark. (AP) - Authorities say a backhoe operator was killed in southeast Arkansas when a truck crashed into him.

Arkansas State Police say 29-year-old Brian Morgan of Lake Village died in the incident Sunday on U.S. 65 in McGehee. According to a preliminary report released Tuesday, a tractor-trailer rear-ended Morgan’s backhoe, and Morgan was thrown off the vehicle.

The truck then went off the highway, crashed into a tree and overturned.

Morgan was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the truck was taken to a Pine Bluff hospital.
