VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (AP) - Virginia Beach police are investigating a traffic accident that killed two juveniles and injured seven other people.

Police spokesman James Cason says a northbound car ran off the road and the driver overcorrected, causing the vehicle to cross the road. The car hit a southbound pickup truck at a 90-degree angle and went into a ditch.

One juvenile passenger in the car was pronounced dead at the scene. Another juvenile passenger was pronounced dead at a hospital. An adult and four other juveniles in the car are in critical condition at a local hospital.

Cason says the pickup’s driver suffered minor injuries. A passenger is in stable condition at a local hospital.

The accident occurred shortly before 7 p.m. Wednesday.

The names of the victims haven’t been released.
