FARGO, N.D. (AP) - The Cass County Sheriff’s Office says someone is impersonating a local law enforcement employee and demanding money over the phone.
Chief Deputy Rick Majerus tells KFGO radio (https://bit.ly/1hLA5q0) that residents should beware of a phone scam in which the caller claims to be with the department’s warrant division.
Majerus says those receiving the calls are threatened with arrest if they don’t pay the fictitious fines. The anonymous caller has allegedly used various ranks and names including Lt. Johnson and Capt. Laney.
