CORNVILLE, Ariz. (AP) - Authorities say a northern Arizona woman has been charged after allegedly assaulting a deputy.

The Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office says 34-year-old Josie Owens has been released on bond since her arrest Sunday in Cornville.

Spokesman Dwight D’Evelyn says Owens‘ boyfriend, 36-year-old Jeremy Slaughter, reported she was acting erratically.

D’Evelyn says deputies put her in the back of their vehicle and then she kicked one of them several times.

They say she kicked out the driver’s side window of the vehicle taking her to Camp Verde Detention Center.

Owens is charged with several offenses including assault on a law enforcement officer and resisting arrest.

Authorities also booked Slaughter on disorderly conduct and criminal damage.

Two teenagers in the couple’s home have been removed to Children’s Protective Services.
