GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) - Grand Forks police arrested a man without incident after a standoff that prompted the evacuation of nearby residents.

WDAZ-TV reports (https://bit.ly/1kCJCzX ) that the incident began about 7:30 p.m. Wednesday when the man called 911, saying he was armed and planned to kill himself.

The man surrendered after about an hour of negotiations with a SWAT team and was taken to a hospital for treatment. Authorities did not immediately file any charges.
