MEDFORD, Ore. (AP) - A Medford man convicted of killing his wife has been sentenced to a life term in prison.

Bourne Huddleston, a 45-year-old former Marine gunnery sergeant, was found guilty Wednesday of shooting his wife, Kristy, and leaving her for their 10-year-old son to find.

He was also convicted of trying to hire someone to kill her.

The Medford Mail Tribune reports (https://bit.ly/1j9t5iR) that at sentencing Thursday, prosecutors and Judge Lorenzo Mejia (muh-HEE’-uh) called Huddleston the worst human being they had come across in their careers.

Mejia said he should never be paroled.

Prosecutors said Huddleston would not be eligible for parole for 25 years

Huddleston didn’t speak or make eye contact with relatives and friends of Kristy Huddleston, a nurse case manager who helped military veterans get back into civilian life.
