FREEHOLD, N.J. (AP) - A New Jersey man has been sentenced to 27 years in prison for killing his estranged wife and burying her body in a shallow cement grave near the Garden State Parkway.

Oscar Prior-Ramirez of Eatontown was sentenced on Thursday in the killing of Viridiana Beltran-Gomez.

The 34-year-old Prior-Ramirez pleaded guilty in November to aggravated manslaughter in the death of the 26-year-old Beltran-Gomez of Red Bank. Her body was found buried near the parkway in Aberdeen about six weeks after her family reported her missing in May 2011.

Prior-Ramirez admitted that he strangled Beltran-Gomez during an argument.

The Star-Ledger reports (https://bit.ly/1nelyGj ) that days after the killing, Prior-Ramirez became paralyzed after jumping out a window in a suicide attempt.

The couple was married for three years and had two sons.
