PORT JERVIS, N.Y. (AP) - An Orange County man has been found guilty of slashing his girlfriend’s throat then setting a fire to cover up the killing.

The Times Herald-Record of Middletown (https://bit.ly/QhDRg7 ) reports that 39-year-old David Stevenson was found guilty Thursday on charges of second-degree murder, arson and weapons possession.

Stevenson was accused of slashing 35-year-old TyRochelle Haughton’s throat on in January 2013 in Port Jervis, about 60 miles northwest of New York City.

During the trial, the prosecutor said Stevenson attacked Haughton in the shower in the house they shared, then went downstairs and set the house on fire.

Stevenson could face a sentence ranging from 15 to 25 years to life in prison on the murder charge.
