TUPELO, Miss. (AP) - Tupelo Public School District Superintendent Gearl Loden says the local high school football field will be called Renasant Field once new blue turf is installed this summer.

The Northeast Mississippi Daily Journal reports (https://bit.ly/1nsx5yW ) the announcement came Thursday at a news conference.

The bank will pay $140,000 over 10 years for the naming rights. The rights include Renasant Bank’s logo on the field’s 25-yard lines.

The field will also be used by girls and boys soccer and for bands competitions.

The field renovation will cost $1.3 million, about $705,000 of which has already been raised.

Hellas Construction of Austin, Texas, will begin work shortly after Tupelo’s regional track meet on April 26.

The project is expected to be completed before the school’s first home football game on Aug. 22.
