SYDNEY (AP) - Sydney FC coach Frank Farina says he expects a fast decision will be made on whether former Juventus great Alessandro Del Piero remains in the A-League.

Farina said after his team’s 2-1 loss to Melbourne Victory in an elimination playoff match Friday that the Sydney board or Del Piero will decide and “it will be relatively quick now.”

Del Piero is completing his second season with Sydney and was the league’s biggest marquee signing.

The 2006 World Cup winner with Italy turns 40 in November and does not have a contract for next season.

Farina says “we’ve got to respect him and see what he wants to do … he’s been fantastic for Australian football, both on the field.”
