Despite rumors in Democratic circles, departing Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius is not considering a Senate run out of Kansas, an agency spokesman told the Associated Press.

The AP reports that in an email late Thursday, HHS shot down speculation that Mrs. Sebelius would take on her old friend, Republican Sen. Pat Roberts, or whoever else becomes the GOP nominee in Kansas, where she used to serve as governor.

Mrs. Sebelius formally announced April 11 she would be leaving President Obama’s cabinet, most likely in May.

Mr. Obama has nominated his budget chief, Sylvia Mathews Burwell, to replace her.
