NEW YORK (AP) - Police have charged a 21-year-old New York City man with attempted murder in a shooting that left a 13-year-old bystander in serious condition.

Police say Friday Kareem Potomont was also charged with assault, weapons possession and reckless endangerment in the shooting of Gama Droiville.

Police say he was arrested Thursday night in Queens. Attorney information wasn’t immediately available.

Police say Droiville was waiting for a bus in Brooklyn Monday when he was shot. He’s recovering at a hospital.

The choir boy told local reporters everyone began running and screaming when the shots were fired. He described it as “very scary.”

He says he was confused so he stood there and that’s when the bullet hit him above his right eye.

He told WCBS-TV, “God says to forgive people.”
