MILL VALLEY, Calif. (AP) - Authorities have identified the woman whose body was recovered on Mount Tamalpais after she went missing during a hike.
The Marin County coroner said Friday that 50-year-old Marie Sanner of Mill Valley was found by crews Thursday a couple of hours after her father reported her missing.
Sheriff’s Lt. Doug Pittman says Sanner appeared to have plunged 50 feet down a steep mountainside drainage area.
Someone previously found the missing woman’s dog and called the number on a tag. Sanner began her hike on Wednesday.
Sanner is the second female hiker found dead on Mount Tamalpais this week. Authorities on Sunday found the body of 33-year-old Magdalena Glinkowski, who had been missing for weeks after she also went on a hike.
Authorities do not think the two deaths are connected.
