YAZOO CITY, Miss. (AP) - Authorities say a Yazoo City teenager has died in a fiery collision Highway 49 east.

The Mississippi Highway Patrol says 17-year-old Jasmand Johnson was traveling north on Highway 49 Thursday when she passed another car traveling north. She completed the pass and then lost control of the vehicle.

Troopers say Johnson’s car ran off the right side of the road and hit a ditch, then flipped several times. Johnson was ejected.

A passenger, 19-year-old Latoya Goins, was not ejected from the vehicle. She was pulled from the car by witnesses as the car began to catch fire.

Goins told police that she was wearing her seatbelt. Officials tell The Clarion-Ledger (https://on.thec-l.com/1gFX15u) Johnson was not wearing a seatbelt.
