SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) - Two people are dead and 19-year-old twin brothers are in custody after a stolen pickup truck being sought by police crashed into another vehicle in the Sacramento area.

Placer County Sheriff’s spokeswoman Dena Erwin said the chase began shortly after 5 a.m. Wednesday after a burglary in Auburn, 30 miles northeast of Sacramento.

The suspects abandoned one vehicle and stole the pickup near Loomis, then drove at high speeds on Interstate 80 before exiting near Sacramento. The pickup then collided with a compact vehicle at an intersection.

A man and a girl in the second vehicle were killed.

Erwin identified the suspects as Ruslan and Roman Glukhoy of Antelope. A third burglary suspect, 21-year-old Yuriy Merkushev, was arrested earlier.

A deputy suffered a broken hand during one of the arrests.
