EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. (AP) - Disorderly conduct charges have been filed against three juveniles in connection with a false report Tuesday of gunshots at a Roxana school which forced a lockdown and police sweep of the building.

Madison County State’s Attorney Tom Gibbons filed juvenile petitions Wednesday against two 15-year-old Roxana residents and a 16-year-old from South Roxana.

The Telegraph in Alton reports (https://bit.ly/1pScC6x) the teens were taken to the Madison County Juvenile Detention Center in Edwardsville.

Officials of Roxana Community Unit School District say the student who made the report was quickly identified, but not before streets surrounding the school were blocked off and the building swept by police.

Dozens of police officers from several area agencies responded.

Students later were allowed to return to their classes.

Roxana is northeast of St. Louis.
