ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) - Anchorage police say two men have been arrested on murder charges in connection with the shooting death of a 15-year-old girl.

Police say 28-year-old Lamar Burney and 24-year-old Jamal Townsend face charges of first- and- second degree murder, first-degree attempted murder and second-degree assault in connection with the early Tuesday morning shooting. They were arrested Tuesday night.

Police say the shooting occurred at a home in the city’s Mountain View neighborhood. The girl was pronounced dead at a hospital.

Police spokeswoman Jennifer Castro says the girl’s name is not being released because she was a minor.

Relatives, however, have told the Anchorage Daily News and KTUU that the girl was Precious Alex of Fairbanks who was visiting her mother in Anchorage.

It’s unclear if Burney or Townsend have attorneys.
