NEW YORK (AP) - Police say a construction worker has died after falling from a New York City hotel.

Police say they responded to a call of a worker falling from the Dream New York hotel in midtown Manhattan just after 2 p.m. Wednesday.

Department of Buildings spokeswoman says the worker was completing work on the building’s facade using a scaffold when he fell about 80 feet. A stop work order was issued by the department.

Police didn’t identify the man, who they say is in his 40s. They say it appears the fall was an accident. The worker was pronounced dead at Weill Cornell Medical Center.

A spokeswoman for the hotel group that manages Dream New York didn’t immediately return messages seeking comment.
