NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (AP) - A grand jury has cleared police officers of wrongdoing in the December death of a North Platte man during a standoff.

The North Platte Telegraph reports (https://bit.ly/1kseXDF) that Lincoln County grand jury came to the decision Tuesday in the death of 27-year-old Jesse Hornbacher.

Police say Hornbacher barricaded himself inside his home on Dec. 11 when officers went to check on him after receiving reports that he was armed and suicidal.

Police say Hornbacher shot himself in the home as they were attempting to negotiate with him.
