MASSAPEQUA, N.Y. (AP) - Fire officials say a blaze that gutted several businesses at a Long Island strip mall was not suspicious.

The fire destroyed a swimming pool supply store and three other businesses on Monday.

It took about 100 firefighters more than three hours to bring the fire under control.

According to Newsday (https://bit.ly/1hgWo1y ), investigators are looking into the cause of the blazes.

County and state authorities from various agencies were on the scene Monday because of concerns about chemicals in the air and chemical-tainted water runoff.

Tests showed the air was safe.
