TRUCKEE, Calif. (AP) - A snowboarder was found alive a day after he went missing in the northern Sierra.

The Sacramento Bee reports (https://bit.ly/1pIzneJ) that 25-year-old Abraham Finkelstein was backcountry snowboarding with his father on Monday in the Castle Peak area. The two became separated during a snowstorm.

Finkelstein’s father was able to get back to their car. He called authorities after his son failed to show up.

Sgt. Sam Brown of the Nevada County Sheriff’s Department says Finkelstein spent the night and day walking until he found a house in the Soda Springs area, where he contacted family and rescue workers.

Brown says Finkelstein was taken to a hospital and that he had minor frostbite.
