FAIRFIELD, Ala. (AP) - Police in Fairfield are investigating after firefighters discovered the burned body of a woman behind a vacant home.

Al.com reports (https://bit.ly/1jqO8Pg) that evidence at the scene indicates that the woman was killed elsewhere, and her body was discarded at the vacant home.

Fairfield Fire Chief Leon Davis said the body was found about 11:30 a.m. Saturday on 40th Street. He said the firefighters and police found the body when they responded to a blaze behind the home.

The woman is described only as a white female. Davis said she was burned badly and they have not yet been able to identify her or the cause of death.

Few other details were available Sunday.
