WAPPINGERS FALLS, N.Y. (AP) - The Dutchess County Medical Examiner is looking for answers after a man’s body was found on a village street.

Wappingers Falls Police Commissioner Carl Calabrese tells the Poughkeepsie Journal (https://pojonews.co/1tp553q ) that police received a call around 1 a.m. Saturday about a structure fire with someone possibly trapped inside. Officers found no fire, but found the body of 54-year-old William Long outside a house on Main Street.

An autopsy was done but the cause of death remains undetermined. Calabrese said officials expect to receive additional information from the medical examiner on Monday.

Calabrese said Long and others had been around a nearby campfire, and Long’s body had burns on it. He said the death may have been an accident.
