NEWTON, Mass. (AP) - Crowds have begun to gather at the Boston Marathon’s infamous Heartbreak Hill in Newton.

By 9:30 a.m. Monday, there were already at least 100 bystanders positioned at the top of the hill. Many more were lined up along the route leading up to the hill. Dozens of people danced to music blaring from a DJ booth set up in a greenway in the middle of the road.

A steady stream of Boston College students also marched up hill to campus, just beyond the rise.

Boston police and National Guard troops were stationed near the medical tent, a reminder of the increased security this year after twin bombings near the finish line of last year’s marathon killed three people and injured more than 260.
