STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) - Xcel Energy is planning to install $160 million in pollution control upgrades at the coal-fired Hayden Station power plant.

Steamboat Pilot & Today reported Monday (https://tinyurl.com/k9s2gpu) the two units at the plant will each get equipment to convert nitrogen oxide into nitrogen and water.

Project manager John Pierce says the new equipment combined with existing nitrogen oxide scrubbers will reduce emissions by about 90 percent.
