SELMA, Ind. (AP) - The large family of a 101-year-old woman is remembering her following her death days after being burned in a fire at her home near Muncie.

Catherine Jane Leach was taken to an Indianapolis hospital after the fire Thursday at the house where she lived alone in the Delaware County town of Selma. Family members say she died Sunday after being removed from a respirator.

Tim Leach tells The Star Press (https://tspne.ws/1pnYJBV ) he talked by phone with his mother less than an hour before the fire. He says she never wanted to go to a nursing home.

Leach is survived by six of her seven children, 28 grandchildren, 55 great-grandchildren and 18 great-great grandchildren.

Margueritte Mader says her mother never did any exercising and always ate whatever she wanted.
