LAS CRUCES, N.M. (AP) - A Deming man faces multiple years in prison when he is sentenced on his guilty plea in a drug trafficking case stemming from the discovery of a half-ton of marijuana hidden in a truck.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office says 32-year-old Crispin Fierro pleaded guilty to a marijuana trafficking charge Tuesday in federal court in Las Cruces.
According to the office, Fierro faces between 5 and 40 years in prison. His sentencing hasn’t yet been scheduled.
The office says Fierro admitted driving a flatbed trucking that was carrying just over 1,000 pounds of marijuana when Border Patrol agents pulled him over on State Route 9 in Luna County on March 4, 2013.
