HAGERSTOWN, Md. (AP) - A Frederick County sheriff’s deputy has been acquitted on a charge of assaulting a man outside a downtown Hagerstown bar.
A Washington County judge found 44-year-old Kevin White of Hagerstown not guilty Tuesday after a nearly 10-hour bench trial.
The 13-year-veteran of the Frederick County Sheriff’s Office was charged by Hagerstown police with punching Travis Grant in the face in December.
The Herald-Mail reports that Circuit Judge Daniel Dwyer said the evidence showed that Grant might have slipped on ice.
The Frederick News-Post reports that White was transferred to a non-law-enforcement position within the sheriff’s department after his arrest.
Defense attorney Patrick McAndrew says he’ll continue representing White in an internal affairs investigation.
