NORFOLK, Va. (AP) - A Norfolk attorney has pleaded guilty to charges that he stole more than $2 million from real estate trust accounts.

U.S. Attorney Dana J. Boente’s office says 44-year-old David R. Flynn pleaded guilty Wednesday to mail fraud and unlawful monetary transactions.

Flynn owns Assured Title of Virginia Beach, LLC.

A statement of facts filed with the plea agreement says Flynn used money taken from the trust accounts to cover up problems with his escrow account and to pay a personal credit card. Some of the money was used to travel to tropical destinations.

Sentencing is set for July 7. Flynn faces up to 20 years in prison on the mail fraud charge and up to 10 years on the unlawful monetary transactions.
