DALY CITY, Calif. (AP) - Police officers have found evidence that a shooting did occur Wednesday afternoon at a San Francisco Bay Area medical building.

Investigators discovered that a round of ammunition was fired on the second floor of a medical building in Daly City, KGO-TV reported.

Seton Medical Center spokeswoman Mary Coady said police responded to the shooting at about 1:30 p.m.

Patients and staff members were evacuated from the building with their hands held over their heads.

The building, which houses about 40 medical practitioners, was sealed off but the main hospital remained open, Coady said.

Daly City police Lt. David Mackriss told the San Francisco Chronicle that a doctor reported seeing a gunman and hearing gunshots.

Investigators initially declared the building clear just before 5 p.m., but at about 7 p.m. they said they had finally discovered evidence of a shooting.

KGO reports that police are looking for a man believed to be in his 60s.
